City Square West
Overview
City Square West is a project to redevelop the block to the west of City Square (on the opposite side of Hwy 41).
Chaska’s Downtown Master Plan identified City Square West as a catalyst site. Redeveloping this site would provide amenities that would create a positive economic impact for downtown.
Goals
- Create public gathering space and pedestrian connection in heart of Downtown Chaska
- Add economic value downtown through mix of residential, retail and paseo/plaza space
- Build paseo/plaza for community activities
- Create visual connections with surrounding downtown blocks
Amenities
- Signature public outdoor plaza
- Mixed income housing
- Upgraded city streets around the project (Pine St, W 3rd St, W 4th St)
- Underground public parking facility
- Public restrooms and storage space to support public activities
Funding
It is a public-private partnership. Because this project would be a regional destination designed to attract visitors to Chaska, we have requested funding from the State Legislature. We received $5,425,000 in funding from the State Legislature in 2023, and we are asking for $7,825,000 in 2026.
Concept Plans
- 1 Night view of Chaska letters from Hwy 41

- 3 View from Hwy 41 of Chaska letters during day
