The Engineering Department processes general stormwater applications for small municipal separate storm sewer systems.

Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan Public Input

A Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) is a system of conveyances for stormwater drainage that includes streets, catch basins, storm drain, gutters, ditches, stormwater treatment facilities, etc.

These systems are separate from the sanitary sewer systems and drain (directly or indirectly) to public water like lakes and rivers.

The City of Chaska holds a permit with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, as required. The intent of the MS4 permit is to protect state water by preventing and reducing pollutants from entering the City stormwater system. The details of how the City of Chaska works to achieve this goal is included in the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan.

The City of Chaska annually provides its residents with an opportunity to provide comment on its Stormwater Pollution Prevent Plan, a requirement of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency regulated Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit.
