The Copperfield Coming to The Curl

It’s official! The Copperfield will be replacing Crooked Pint at the Chaska Curling and Event Center.

The Chaska Economic Development Authority approved the new lease agreement with The Copperfield at their March 30th meeting, which means we can now provide some updates.

We’ll start with the timeline. Crooked Pint will close on Sunday, April 5 at 3 p.m. following their Easter brunch buffet. Remodeling will start April 6 with the plan to have a “soft” opening of The Copperfield mid-June.

The restaurant space will be closed during the remodeling period, and immediately some questions come to mind.

What’s the plan for league playoffs?

The Players’ Lounge will have a bartender from 5-11 p.m. for each of the nights that games are scheduled. Beverage options will be limited, but there will be alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available.

What about the Championship games on Saturday, April 25?

The Players’ Lounge will have a bartender serving limited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. There will be limited seating in the Curling Center along the walkways for viewing. Another option is to watch our livestream which provides a great viewing experience.

How about spring leagues?

The Players’ Lounge will have a bartender from 5-11 p.m. for each of the nights that games are scheduled. Beverage options will be limited, but there will be alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available.

More about The Copperfield:

The Copperfield is owned and managed by Hightop Hospitality, which also owns Crooked Pint Ale House, Green Mill Restaurant and Bar, four catering brands and five venues., so we are staying in the same family of restaurants but with some exciting changes to the menu and physical space.

  • The Copperfield will be open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Copperfield has garnered numerous Star Tribune Minnesota’s Best Reader’s Choice Awards including Best Breakfast, Best Pancakes, Best Brunch and Best New Restaurant, to name a few.
  • There will be a grab-and-go area where you can purchase bakery items and coffee to go.
  • As a part of the remodel, there will be a new designated curling viewing area along the glass. There will be two levels of bench seating with drink rails, which will improve the ability to watch curling. This will be huge during league championships, bonspiels, and when we host USA Curling championships. Individuals choosing to sit in this designated area can order food and drink from the restaurant, however, but they do not have to if they just want to watch curling.

As the remodel moves along, we’ll share more updates. If you have any questions, email or call us.

Chaska Team Takes Gold in Club Nationals

Team Caldwell holding championship trophy for USA Curling Club National Championships

The 2026 USA Curling Club Nationals was a great success.  Congratulations to Brad Caldwell, Patrick Young, Erik Quistgaard, and Chase Ebeling on winning the championship!

The team qualified for the playoffs based on their pool play record where they matched up against a sharp Alaska team in the semi finals.  In the other semi final, Minnesota (Dolan, St. Paul C.C.) played against the Mountain and Pacific Curling Association (Murray, Coyotes C.C.) with MPCA victorious.  The final was a tight game but Team Caldwell ran the opposing team out of the Coyotes Curling Club out of rocks to take home the gold.  Fun to celebrate our local team winning here in Chaska!

On the women's side, Team Roth out of Madison, Wisconsin captured the gold medal. While our team, Team Jeannot, didn't make it into the playoffs, they battled so hard every game and represented the Chaska Curling Center well on and off the ice.  It was fun to watch Lori, Kim, Deb, Michelle, and Kate compete!

A special shout out to all the volunteers who put in so much time to make the event a success!  These events don't happen without your help.

We saw so many of our members and members from neighboring clubs lend a hand.  We had an outstanding livestream with commentary for every draw of the event - thank you Niles and guest commentators!  The timers and officials put in long (and sometimes stressful) shifts with many of the games finishing low on time.  We had ice help from other clubs.  It was a giant team effort and we put on a great show for the athletes and USA Curling.

Thank you again to all who helped make it possible!

Openings Remain in Spring Leagues

Curler shouting we need more teams!

We are setting up spring leagues for teammate registration and will create league schedules soon.  A few of our leagues have an odd number of teams, which isn't ideal. We like even numbers in curling.

Please let the Curling Center know if you can get a team into one of these leagues:

  • Monday Futures (beginner) 6 p.m. - currently at 7 teams - this is great for beginners or experienced curlers looking to introduce people to the sport.
  • Tuesday Open 5:30 p.m. - currently at 11 of 12 teams
  • Thursday Open 6:30 p.m. - currently at 11 of 12 teams

TCCA Board Positions

The Twin Cities Curling Association (TCCA) has three open positions. If interested, email president@twincitiescurling.org and let them know what position you're interested in, why, and what relevant experience you have.

The TCCA is a volunteer-run board, and the board will vote on the candidates. The TCCA is looking for strong candidates who want to give back to the Twin Cities Curling community. Ideal candidates have board or relevant experience to the role, but it isn't necessary.

The deadline to submit your interest is May 1, 2026. Elections will be held at the TCCA Board Meeting on May 11.

Open positions:

  • President
    • Darwin Isdahl is running out of the VP role
    • 2-year term
    • Ideal to serve as VP first
  • Vice President
    • No current candidates from within the Board running
    • 2-year term
    • Prepares for the President role
  • Treasurer
    • No current candidates from within the Board
    • 2-year term

2026 TCCA Championship

The 2026 TCCA Championship will be held at the St. Paul Curling Club May 2-3.  A flyer is posted on the playoff brackets in the Welcome Hall.  Each metro club sends their top 2 teams to play for the championship.

Reach out if you are interested in representing Chaska in this fun event! The 2 teams that place the highest in our league playoffs will get the first opportunity.
